Di Festival Film Preancis Cannes ke 64, akan ada banyak Korean Celebrities yg berpatisipasi tahun ini.

Jang Dong-gun dan Jeon Ji-hyeon mempersembahkan project baru mereka sebelum global movie makers dan Song Hye-kyo  memiliki kesempatan yg lebih baik untuk melangkah di karpet merah dengan membawa film2 mereka. 

Berada di Prancis tgl 11 May ini, Festival Film Cannes Internasional Prancis adalah acara penghargaan film yang memiliki hubungan special dengan film2 korea dan aktor2nya. Ini juga seperti hubungan antara sutradara Im Kwon-taek, Lee Chang-dongPark Chan-wook, aktris Jeon Do-yeon danakan berlanjut lagi tahun ini.

Para pecinta film di korea sebentar lagi akan mendengar suara binatang2 liar, dari beruang kutub di Artic sampai Gajah2 di Gurun Kalahari Afrika , di bioskop2 lokal.

”Earth”, film documenter yg di sutradarai oleh Alastair Fothergeil dan Mark Linfield, dibuka tgl 4 Sept dengan harapan mengarah pada gerakan ekologi untuk menyelamatkan bumi dari pemanasan global. Film documenter ini berdasarkan pada Seri televisi dari British Broadcasting Company “Planet Earth’ (2006) dan mengikutin jalur migrasi dari perjuangan keluarga binatang. Earth aslinya dinarasi oleh actor inggris Patrick Stewart, yg bermain sebagai peran utama Kapten Jean-Luc Picard dalam serial Star Trek.

Dalam versi Koreanya, aktor film dan televisi Jang Dong-gun akan menjadi narasi dibawah pengawasan sutradara Lee Myung-se. “Karena binatang2 tsb tidak punya skrip line, adalah peran narrator untuk membawa cerita, humor, emosi, getaran dan ketegangan film tsb” Lee mengatakan bahwa film tsb adalah versi binatang dari “Ocean Eleven” (2001) nya Steven Soderbergh. “Ini petualangan” ujarnya.

Sebenarnya, binatang2 memiliki energi untuk membawa emosi seseorang, ujar Lee. Ketika dia pertama kali melihat film documenter tsb, Lee lbh bersemangat bekerja dengan narasi korea. Dia berpikir pesan yg ada dapat tersampaikan lebih jelas kepada para pemirsa lokal di korea daripada menggunakan bahasa inggris atau terjemahan.

Blockbuster 'Friend' to Be Reproduced as TV Series

Will a TV drama version of the blockbuster "Friend" be as thrilling as the original movie?

Avid fans certainly hope so. The mega-hit, which garnered a record-high 8.2 million ticket sales in 2001, will be remade as a 16-episode TV series titled "Friend: the Untold Story," said to be aired in the first half of 2009.

"I have decided to direct the drama with untold episodes added to the original movie. The scenario is in the process of being written," said Kwak Kyung-taek, who catapulted into stardom as the film director and scenario writer.

"All the episodes will be shot in Busan, just like the original film," Kwak said, refusing to reveal which TV broadcaster will show it.

Kim Min-jun, 32, who starred in Kwak's 2007 film "Love," will replace Yu Oh-sung as the gangster Jun-sok, and Hyun Bin, 26, will replace Jang Dong-geun as Jun-sok's friend Dong-su. Oh and Hyun Bin will play the two leading characters among the four friends in the movie, according to the 42-year-old director. Hyun Bin starred in TV soap operas "Queen of Snow(2006)" and "My Name is Kim Sam-sun(2005)."

The original movie depicted the director's experience with his friends, a semi-autobiography set in his hometown of Busan. The actors use a strong regional dialect. Many movie-goers, especially male adults, were attracted because it reminded them of their high school days.

JANG DONG GUN BERPETUALANG DALAM IKLAN

Film Indiana Jones And The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull sukses di berbagai bioskop di seluruh dunia. Deman Indiana Jones juga dirasakan oleh Jang Dong Gun. Dia ingin membuntuti kesuksesan ini dengan tampil lewat cerita petualangan dalam iklan terbaru Samsung Card. Dengan bantuan CG, dia masuk ke masa purba dan bertarung dengan dinosaurus, sangat lucu. Dong Gun memerankan petualang yang tersesat di dunia dinosaurus.
Dong Gun baru saja merampungkan film debut Hollywoodnya, Laundry Warrior.

Belum lama ini teman dekatnya, Gong Hyo Jin tampil di acara KBS Happy together. Hyo Jin menceritakan jika Dong Gun paling tidak tahan dengan minuman beralkohol. Dong Gun bahkan sampai dijuluki "10 menit", karena setiap selesai minum, dia akan memejamkan mata selama 10 menit sambil menopang pipi dengan tangan kanannya. Setelah "sadar", kondisinya sangat payah.

Hyo Jin juga mengatakan, Dong Gun sebenarnya tidak suka tampil di acara TV, tapi suka menontonnya. Setiap selesai menonton, dia akan menelepon Hyo Jin dan menceritakannya ulang selama setengah jam. Kabarnya, aktor Hallyu ini akan kembali ke layar kaca Korea dalam waktu dekat.

Eduwill menggelar polling dari 980 orang, dan Lee Beom-soo (31%), yang disenangi oleh para penggemarnya sebagai manager di "On Air" SBS, menduduki peringkat pertama.

Jang Dong Gun’s Laundry Warrior making its 1st public appearance at Cannes

Film aksi aktor Jang Dong Gun "Laundry Warior" (Sutradara Lee Sng Moo) akan di perkenalkan untuk pertama kalinya pada masyarakat di Festival Film Internasional Cannes yg ke 61.

"Laundry Warior" yang masa pembuatannnya selesai pada bulan Maret menceritakan tentang sejarah pejuang asia dan dibintangi oleh Jang Dong Gun sebagai aktor utama dan aktris hollywod Kate Bosworth sebagai pahlawan wanitanya (female hero).

Trailer selama 5 menit akan ditayangkan di Festival Film Cannes membuka film tersebut untuk pertama kalinya ke masyarakat.

Menurut sumber dari JDG company, Jang Dong Gun tidak akan menghadiri Fetival Film Cannes tersebut karena dia sendiri masih berada di Amerika. “Laundry Warrior" diharapkan mulai melakukan promosinya pada akhir tahun ini dan akan mulai tayang pada awal tahun depan.

Star Struck Ads Not Always Good

Heartthrob Jang Dong-kun recently won a monthly advertisers popularity poll as the most sought out commercial model. It wasn't the first time his recognition and refined looks crowned him with the honor, but consumers are starting to find him and other local celebrities'"excessive endorsements" confusing.

"The fundamental idea of a one-star/one-brand is already long gone in Korea because it is common for local celebrities to endorse multiple products at once," said Park Moon-ki of Brand38, a Seoul-based brand consulting agency.

Mega movie star Jang is currently starring in at least seven television commercials, including those promoting POSCO's "The # (Sharp)" apartments, Hite beer, SK Telecom's T brand, Chung Jung-won's food products, Nintendo and Samsung digital camera VLUU.

"His style (hair and clothes) and even the setting is similar in several of them, so it's natural for consumers to get confused over which product Jang is advertising until the clip is half-way through," said Kim Jin-sook, a member of the Seoul YMCA College Consumers Association.

Other celebrities including Kim Tae-hee, Jun Ji-hyun and Lee Young-ae are also drawing similar criticism. Kim is currently endorsing seven, and Jun and Lee are backing four each.

Despite the negative perception, however, advertisers keep going after the same stars, as the celebrities keep getting paid more.

"Even though there are drawbacks of 'sharing stars' with others, companies don't want to take the risk of using a less recognized model in their commercials," said marketing consultant Lee Hyo-taek.

He said, however, that a growing number of advertisers are reaching out to Hollywood stars, as many local celebrities charge more than world-famous faces.

Korean casual clothing brand GGPX recently replaced its front model from sexy pop star Lee Hyo-lee to world-renowned British supermodel Kate Moss.

Moss definitely takes the lead in terms of global recognition, but figures released by GGPX show that Moss signed a six-month contract for 200 million won, far less than what Lee charges. Industry sources say her "rate" is, on average, around 700 million won a year.

"Many of the top local star models don't show up at corporate events or use the products they endorse, so there isn't that much of a benefit from hiring a Korean celebrity," said an industry insider, adding that hiring Hollywood stars will become more common.

Among some of those overseas stars endorsing local products include Wentworth Miller for French Cafe, and Pierce Brosnan for suit brand Galaxy.
